Known as "Hidden Beach" at the time of the 1984
New Day Rising photo
shoot, this spot on Cedar lake has since been officially adopted by the
Minneapolis Parks & Recreation Board and is known as
East Cedar Beach. When the newer shots were taken in Aug 2011, 27 years of
growth had altered the treeline somewhat, but it looks as if the section off
toward the right in the panorama is the closest match to the NDR artwork.
No dogs were present that day, and the sun was too high to emulate the
sunrise effect (actually shot at sundown), but Grant Hart guaranteed
that this was the exact spot.
